RANGE RULES

Prior to start of competition, ensure all relevant paperwork is complete. Check range is in a safe condition and the RED FLAGS are raised. Determine which targets are to be used and get them ready. (Most targets can be used 3 times at least.) Preparation time starts when the RANGE OFFICER declares the Range is Clear and preparation time has commenced. ONLY THEN can firearms be handled. Loading only when R/O gives the load command. This means only loading magazines when given that command, at that time. From the load command in ISSF to targets turning is 1 minute. The other matches are a different set of commands. Only ONE magazine on the bench for most events. Chamber flags to be used at all times Listen to and obey the RANGE OFFICERS commandsMalfunctions depend on the match being shot. (ISSF have malfunctions. PA matches don’t.) Raise non dominant hand and wait. Trying to clear an allowable malfunction and running out of time means you lose the chance of a reshoot. When under a CEASE FIRE e.g., Scoring NO HANDLING OF FIREARMS or AMMUNITION and step back behind the BLUE LINE. When waiting for others to finish shooting or the LINE IS BEING CLEARED step back behind the BLUE LINEVISITORS or NON-SHOOTERS stay behind BLUE LINE while shooting is going on and until RANGE has been for scoring or all firearms have been cased or bagged. PERSONEL not involved in scoring or patching stay behind the BLUE LINE, a fully licensed member stays back to supervise the line. SAFE AREAS at both side of the range only to be used after R/O gives approval. NO AMMUNITION is allowed in defined SAFE AREA.SCORE DISPUTES to be taken up with the scorer at the time. At the completion of the competition firearms are to be boxed or cased on the line after being cleared by the RANGE OFFICER.TAKE THE BOX OR CASE TO THE LINE and wait to have it cleared.
